Pelikan Souveran M1000 review

Hey folks! Welcome back to another pen discussion. Today we will talk about the flagship pen of Pelikan Souveran series, the M1000. This is a large pen, no; actually a very large pen. With a nice perfect gold nib, this pen is ruling over millions of pen lover’s hearts. So let’s check it out!

Body

The pen is made of acrylic & resin, as usual. The cap is a traditional pagoda-shaped with the logo on top. It has two rings; one is thick & another thin; emblems the Pelikan, Germany, Souveran on it. The clip is a traditional pelican bill shaped. One ring on the grip section another two rings on the piston knob. All the ornaments are 24k gold plated.

The cap is thread fit. There is an ink window on the Black version but the Green version is bit translucent, so no ink window on that. The design of the pen is typically Pelikan classic. No difference from its other models like M800 or M600. Just bigger in size. Now let’s check the specs-

Length- 146mm (capped), 135mm (uncapped) & 177mm (posted)

Width- 12mm section and body max 14-16mm

Weight- 32-33gm

Ink & Refilling system

The Pen is undoubtedly piston filler. Can’t convert in an eyedropper and use any kind of cartridges or converter. It’s fixed. The ink capacity is great. It can hold large ink.

Color & price

The pen came out with two colors, Green stripped & Black. Still, there are no updates for the regular edition. But it has some special edition which can give you a pretty wide range of new designs. And be remembered that it can make you spend a lot of money also. The regular price for this pen is in 740-850$. In Europe, it will be 450-650€. The special editions cost is way more than the regular version.

Writing Capability

The pen writes superbly. If you look at the nib, you can see how massive it is. The polish is so well that you can feel very comfort to write. There is no skips, no scratchiness. The ink flows very well and the wetness is just great. Yes, the EF or F nib can give some feedback but that OK for that. The other nibs are super. The model has also the BB or BBB even OBB nib, but these are now out of production.

Well, let me remind you that it’s not a Flexible nib. It’s just a well-crafted spring nibs. So you can get a lot of line variations from this pen by putting pressure on it but stay in the limit. Don’t push so hard that it goes out of service.
